Bluemont Photo Manager (BPM) is a free Java program, with
searchable help, for building, viewing, and archiving
photo albums, and for building album Web sites. BPM's
features include:
- Save, display, and edit many items for each photo,
such as place, location, and notes
- Put a photo in any number of albums without managing
files and folders
- Order album photos by date, location, identifier,
and size (number of pixels)

- Use wildcards (*) to select album photos
- Group albums into categories
- Backup and restore albums
- Build configurable websites for albums, and upload
the websites to an FTP web server
- Edit photos using an external photo editor program,
without leaving BPM
- Add photo tags, e.g., a person's name displayed at a
specific position on a photo when it is
displayed
- View an album slideshow, with pause, resume,
changeable timing, and photo tags
- Extract photos from an album
- Print photos or an album
- Analyze for "orphan" photos not included in any
album
- Set preferences for many items such as font size,
thumbnail size, and colors
- Configure the user interface using individual panels
that can be selectively displayed
- Add information to multiple photos at a time
- Use JPEG, GIF, and PNG images
- Use Extended Image Format (EXIF) information when
adding photos to albums
- Built-in help.
BPM is copyrighted freeware with no warranty; it may be
installed on any number of computers and distributed
freely. It requires installation of the Java Runtime
Environment (JRE) version 1.8. The BPM distribution
includes a free JRE for 64-bit Microsoft Windows. Since
BPM uses Java, it will run on any 64-bit version of
Microsoft Windows.
UPDATE: BPM has been
updated to version 12-Apr-2026. New features are marked
by [new] in the help; they pertain only to Web sites. To
do the update, run bpm-installer.jar, or
download bpm-update.zip
into the BPM installation folder and extract it.
